They had just passed the bend, they held a pretty good place in the race when something went wrong, there was an awkward step and an odd sound, but Grenade didn't stop. He just snorted and pushed on, ignoring the pain he felt in his leg. Stacy had begun pulling back on the reins, trying to get him to stop, winning this race, meant nothing to her now that the bad feeling was back. Grenade fought like hell as he pushed forward, surging down the track, there was another sound, more sickening this time as Grenade went by the finish line.

He had finished the race, but at what cost? He wasn't the kind to give up and he hated losing, most of the pain had been blocked by the adrenaline run, but as soon as they had crossed the finish line, Stacy reined hard and Grenade went down instantly neighing loudly. His front right leg was at an awkward angle, it was obviously broke, though how bad, Stacy didn't know. She just knew that her horse was down, that he had passed the finish line and finished the race, but there were horses behind him, horses that weren't going to stop and could possibly trample her and Grenade.

Luckily Grenade and Stacy had narrowly avoided getting trampled, the race was over, she hurt really bad, but she didn't care. "HELP!!!" She screamed, tears streaming down her face as she  tried to hold Grenade down as he struggled to get up. "I NEED HELP!" She screamed again. Quickly men came running onto the track and a truck and trailer soon came onto the track as well.

"Keep him down." A gruff voice said, watching the girl and her horse. Grenade snorted and bellowed loudly, starting to thrash around, men came forward to help hold the stallion down. "We need a vet!" The gruff voice yelled. Stacy crawled back, putting her face in her hands as she sobbed. The staff from Night Shade Stable, that had been at the race, ran down to the track to help everyone and to console Stacy.

"He's gonna be okay Stace." Jake said, though tears filled his eyes. "He's gonna be okay." He said again, biting his lip then turning to hug his gramma Lilly. Emerald crouched down by Stacy and hugged her. "Grenade will be just fine Stacy, he's gonna make it, he's strong and so are you." She said, watching her. Talon crouched on the other side and said. "He needs you right now, just look him in the eyes and calm him." Talon said, glancing back to the thrashing horse, who still hadn't been given the sedative due to his kicking hooves. Stacy nodded and sniffed.

She stood and walked over to Grenade, gently talking to him. "Hey boy." She said softly, sitting by his head and neck. She gently pulled his head onto her lap, his saddle and other tack had been taken off, just in case he would get his legs caught up in it while kicking. "You're alright. It's okay." She said softly, stroking him. The stallion soon calmed down, giving the vet enough time to administer the sedative. Stacy smiled softly and gently kissed his velvety muzzle.

After a while, the sedative kicked in and Grenade calmed down and drifted off into sleep. The people around began to pull him into the trailer. Once inside the trailer, the vet quickly got in and drove off. Stacy looked around, grabbing Grenade's tack she walked off the track by herself, not wanting to be around others...

Gah, why do you do this to me? Poor Stacy. Poor Grenade. Wishing the best for both of them! If something bad happens, I swear. :shakefist:
